FORMAT:

Rapid & Blitz!

  • 6 round Swiss. 10 minutes plus 5 seconds per move per player from move 1.

  • 7 round Swiss. 3 minutes plus 2 seconds per move per player from move 1.

Both time controls are included in the same tournament. All entries play both time controls. You cannot enter these events separately.

SCHEDULE:

  • Entries Close - 11:00am

  • Opening Ceremony - 11:15

  • Rapid Rounds commence at 11:30

    • Rounds 1-3

    • Break

    • Rounds 4-6

  • Blitz Rounds commence at 2pm

    • Rounds 1-4

    • Break

    • Rounds 5-7

Round will commence as soon possible after the previous round has finished. Minimal waiting time will be allowed between back-to-back rounds with larger scheduled breaks at the mid-way points of both time controls.

ENTRIES:

DUE TO AN OVERWHELMING INTEREST IN THIS EVENT ONLINE ENTRIES HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED AS OF 8AM 19/10/21.

Players may still enter in person at the event up to 11am as advertised, subject to space, equipment, and COVID-19 capacities. We’d like to thank everyone for the interest in the event and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Entries close at 11am on Sunday the 19th of September.

FEES & LEVIES:

Entry fees may be paid on the day in cash (please tender the correct change) or by credit card. Entry fees may also be paid online prior to the event by credit card or PayPal, or by direct transfer.

  • All Competitors - $30

Current club membership is NOT required.

This is NOT a TCA rated event, entrants are not required to have current TCA membership status as either an individual member, or part of an affiliated club.

PRIZES:

Currently there is a guaranteed prize pool of $1000 plus all entry fees.

More donations for prize money are expected in the coming weeks.

BYES & NON-ATTENDANCE:

There are no voluntary byes allowed in this tournament.

  • Forced byes generated due to pairing requirements will be given a score of 1 point.

Unnotified non-attendance will attract a forfeit and 0 points. 2 instances of unnotified non-attendance will result in withdrawal from the tournament and the forfeit of the entry fee.

NOTES:

FIDE Laws 2018 apply – ringing mobiles will incur automatic loss. Entrants agree to abide by all decisions of the organisers and arbiters. The organisers reserve the right to make any changes required.
