Hobart Chess Club meet in the Davis Centre at Guilford Young College on Mondays, with the junior club meeting from 5:30-6:30 during school terms. The adult club meets from 6:30 pm and is open every week excepting most public holidays and 3-4 weeks over Xmas/New Year.

Some of our tournaments are one night quick tournaments and some run for several nights. Multi-week events are Swisses with postponed games allowed in the club championships, and half-point byes available for other events.

How Much

Full Club Membership - $60 per Year

Membership includes

• entry to all HCC events

• membership of the Tasmanian Chess Association (TCA)

• an Australian Chess Federation (ACF) chess rating (conditions apply)

• discounted tea and coffee facilities

Junior Membership - $60 per Year

Membership includes

• full HCC Club membership

• coaching from adult members of HCC

Accessing the venue

Hobart Club Meet in the Davis Centre (previously known as the ARC ) at Guilford Young College, West Hobart Campus.

The preferred method of parking on the school site is at the Oval upper Patrick St (1). However, that leads to two flights of (steepish) steps to negotiate.

If steps aren’t your thing then you can also park at the lower Patrick St enterance (by the Tennis courts) where there are a limited number of spaces (3). At the lower Partick St enterance you will find the club’s A frame sign which has a bell attached you may need to press the bell if the doors are not open at the lower level.

You can also access the venue on foot via Partick St (4).
