FORMAT:

7 round Swiss. 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move per player from move 1.

SCHEDULE:

Saturday the 7th of March:

  • Opening Ceremony - 1.30pm

  • Round 1 - 2pm

  • Round 2 - 6pm

Sunday the 8th of March:

  • Round 3 - 10am

  • Round 4 - 2pm

  • Round 5 - 6pm

Monday the 9th of March:

  • Round 6 - 10am

  • Round 7 - 2pm

  • Closing Ceremony - 6pm

ENTRIES:

All competitors MUST enter online using the digital registration form.

Entries close at 5pm on Wednesday the 4th of March.

A $10 early bird discount will be applied to all entries if registration is received on or before Saturday the 22nd of February.

FEES & LEVIES:

Entry fees may be paid in person on the day with cash or credit card. Entry fees may also be paid prior to the event by bank transfer direct to the TCA or via the TCA website by credit card or PayPal.

  • Adult $60

  • Junior (under 18) $30

In accordance with section 3 of the TCA Constitution, Tasmanian players not already a member of the TCA must pay an Individual TCA Membership levy in addition to their entry fee. This fee entitles the individual to all items listed under rule 3.2 of the constitution until the commencement of the next TCA financial year (rule 6.5)

PRIZES:

  • 1st 40%

  • 2nd 20%

  • 3rd 10%

  • U1650 10%

  • U1500 10%

  • Junior (to be determined)

Prizes other than 1st and 2nd subject to at least 3 eligible entries. Prize pool is 90% + the confirmed junior prize of entry fees minus running costs and levies.

TITLES:

Winners of the Tasmanian Championship shall be conferred the title of “Tasmanian Chess Champion” in accordance with the TCA’s State Title Eligibility Policy.

HALF-POINT BYES:

No Half-Point byes for this event.

NOTES:

FIDE Laws 2018 apply – ringing mobiles will incur automatic loss. Entrants agree to abide by all decisions of the organisers and arbiters. The organisers reserve the right to make any changes required.

This TCA tournament has been organised and operated to comply with the TCA Constitution and the Tournament Guidelines of the TCA.
